CHIROPRACTIC

ABOUT CHIROPRACTIC

CHIROPRACTIC OVERVIEW

Chiropractic is a life changing addition to health and wellness for many people. Often times we just get used to the way our bodies feel, move, and perform. The aches, pains, and headaches that we accept as “normal” everyday issues are anything but! These things may be common, but they are not how a healthy body normally functions. Chiropractors are board certified doctors, that seek to identify underlying causes of pain, limitations, and health concerns, then help the body heal through rehabilitative, non-invasive therapies. The primary therapy a chiropractor uses is called an adjustment. The chiropractic adjustment is a safe and effective way to help relieve pain, restore function, and maintain well-being. Chiropractic can be tailored to any treat just about any individual. Newborns, children, active adults, elite athletes, and elderly can all benefit from being evaluated and/or treated by a chiropractor. In addition to adjustments, chiropractors may also utilize muscle therapies, stretching, corrective exercises, strength training, or nutritional supplementation to help correct dysfunction and help you reach your optimal level of well-being.

CHIROPRACTIC EDUCATION

A lot more goes into a chiropractic education than most people realize. A doctor of chiropractic has completed a 4 year post-graduate program, a 1 year clinical program, and passed 4 rounds of accredited national board examinations. A chiropractic education includes anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, microbiology, pathology, public health, neurology, pediatrics, obstetrics, radiology, chiropractic adjustment, and physical rehabilitation. Chiropractors can order X rays, MRIs, blood labs, and other imaging studies if needed.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first visit at Chiropractique will begin with filling out a full medical history. Your chiropractor will review the information, give you time to share your story, and ask you any clinically relevant questions. The chiropractor will then perform a thorough physical examination that may include: gait, posture, balance, range of motion, flexibility, spinal assessment, or orthopedic/neurological testing. If any imaging or studies are indicated, those may be ordered or referred out for. Once the history and exam are done your first session will normally include an introductory treatment session, as well as creation of a care plan to help you reach your goals and maintain them.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Your results are entirely dependent your condition and your goals. People generally seek chiropractic care for one of 3 reasons: relief, rehabilitation, or maintenance. As a general rule, if your symptoms are new and not terribly severe, and your only goal is pain relief, many people experience relief and return to their normal state of being in 1-8 visits. If your symptoms have been around for a long time, or they are fairly severe, you may be looking at 8-16 visits over the course of a couple months. If your goal is not only pain relief, but also rehabilitating underlying dysfunction and getting your body functioning optimally, just like weight loss or strength training, that takes place over time. We will focus on breaking down any bad habits that your body has learned, replacing them with good habits, then teaching you ways to strengthen that process on your own. That process can take 4 weeks, 8 weeks, or several months depending on the severity of the condition and how long it’s been there. Either way, investing in your health provides you with the highest quality of life possible, and that is what we should all be chasing.

ACUPUNCTURE

ABOUT ACUPUNTURE

ACUPUNCTURE OVERVIEW
Acupuncture is a holistic therapy rooted in Chinese medicine that has also been welcomed into western medicine for it’s healing applications. A board certified acupuncturist is educated in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, oriental medicine, herbology, and drug interactions, to name a few.

This blend in perspective enables an acupuncturist to apply natural holistic therapies to help heal common conditions that might otherwise be treated via drugs or other more invasive methods.

Acupuncture can treat a wide variety of conditions. Pain related conditions such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, whiplash, and various forms of tendonitis all normally respond well to acupuncture. The Chinese medicine component of acupuncture may also help with internal physiological conditions such as stress, anxiety, blood pressure, insomnia, allergies, asthma, depression, digestive issues, or fertility.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first visit at Chiropractique will begin with filling out a full medical history. Your acupuncturist will review your information, give you time to share your story, and ask any clinically relevant questions. The acupuncturist will then perform a thorough physical examination which may include: posture, skin conditions, muscular trigger points, reflexes, organ health, pulses, tongue health, and ear or foot reflexology.

Once the history and exam are done your first session will normally include a full treatment session, as well as creation of a care plan to help you reach your goals and maintain them.

Treatment may consist of acupuncture, acupressure, electric stimulation, cupping, herbal prescriptions, dietary plan, or other, depending on need.

Acupuncture is a very gentle form of therapy. If a person is in severe pain and can’t fathom really being touched or moved, acupuncture is often a very good way to provide relief. Many people actually fall asleep during their sessions, waking up feeling relaxed and at ease.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE

Your results are entirely dependent your condition and your goals.

If the only goal is pain relief, many patients see good results in 1-5 sessions. During this time you may also see an improvement in stress, sleep, or mood. If you are working on longer term goals your acupuncturist may want to see you for an initial treatment plan, then follow up at monthly intervals and modify your herb schedule or lifestyle habits.

MASSAGE

ABOUT MASSAGE

MASSAGE OVERVIEW

All of our massage therapists have an excellent knowledge of anatomy and great hands. These are what separates a good therapist from a great therapist. Have you ever had a massage where it feels like someone just rubbed lotion on you for an hour? We don’t do that. Our therapists will talk to you about any issues you are having, work on those areas, as well as any underlying causes, and discuss self care techniques you can do at home.

TYPES OF MASSAGE

We offer two types of massage, based on what kind of experience you are looking for:

Our BLISS massage is an hour long full-body sensory experience designed to help you relax and destress, our therapist will work with your entire body from scalp down to your toes.

Our RESTORATIVE massage is an hour long, problem-focused, deep tissue therapy designed to relieve pain and restore function.

Ask staff about additional options such as prenatal massage.

COLD LASER THERAPY

ABOUT COLD LASER

COLD LASER OVERVIEW

Cold laser therapy helps accelerate the body’s natural healing processes, reduces pain, inflammation, and speeds up healing time.

WHY IS IT CALLED "COLD" LASER?

It is called “COLD” laser because it does not produce heat within the tissue it is targeting. High powered lasers produce heat and are use for different purposes such as melting bodyfat or surgical procedures. Our lasers are in a very safe, non-thermal class.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The laser creates a “photo-chemical” effect within the cells it reaches, the same way that UV light from the sun causes our skin to produce melanin and Vitamin D.

The primary effect is an increase in mitochondrial activity. This causes cells to speed up repair and proliferation, as well as increasing demand for blood flow, and modulating inflammation.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Cold laser is extremely safe and completely painless. Patients lay on a physical therapy table, get comfortable, and usually shut their eyes, read, or play on their phone. You won’t feel a thing. Over the course of a treatment plan you will feel results gradually.

Most sessions are 10 minutes. You can choose cold laser therapy on it’s own, or utilize it in addition to an additional service.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Most treatment plans range from 6-12 visits. Sessions are 10 minutes each. It’s like taking anti-biotics. You are not going to feel the process happening, but over the course of a full treatment plan your results should create a gradual improvement over time.

WHAT DOES IT HELP WITH?

Cold laser therapy may be beneficial for: Acute or chronic pain, anxiety, tissue/wound healing, scar prevention, tmj pain, trigeminal neuralgia, headache/migraine, neck/back pain, tendonitis of the shoulder/elbow/wrist, tendonitis of the hip/knee ankle, sprain/strain of muscles/ligaments, carpal tunnel syndrome, nerve entrapment, bursitis, sciatica, patellofemoral pain syndrome, plantar fasciitis.
